Helena Township Board Meeting
April 10th, 2014
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance by Supervisor Rick Teague. Present: Catherine Rice, David Peterson, Bonnie Robbins and Butch Bartz. Motion to approve agenda by Robbins with support by Bartz and motion carried.

Public Comment: None
Approval of minutes: Motion by Teague with support by Bartz to approve Marchs board meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Township: Beginning balance as of Jan 1, 2014 $528,546.47
Receipts $28,447.44
Disbursements $28,460.94
Bank balance 02/28/14 $528,532.97
Motion to approve the Treasurers report by Bartz with support by Robbins and motion carried.
Presentation of bills: March. 1-31, 2014 – $18,398.77 and April 1-10, 2014 – $5,340.01
Speakers: None
Communications: Spring clean-up day for Helena Township residents is June 7th, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Depot parking lot in Alden. Notices will be put up including newspaper ads and township web page.
Committee Reports:
Zoning – Zoning Administrator Molby gave report for March. Molby has asked the Planning Commission to consider a fee schedule for zoning ordinance violations/misdemeanors, fees for a demolishing permit and increased fees for land use permits.
Planning Commission Trustee Robbins reported
Ambulance Authority Teague reported that the Ambulance Authority millage request from 0.65 to 1.0 mil will be on the August ballot.
Parks and Recreation Committee Ruth Smith reported the DNR Passport Grant Application was received by the DNR for resurfacing the tennis courts. There is an opening at Antrim County Parks and Rec.
Roads Bartz reported that both ends of Cemetery Road were dressed up with additional stone. N. Lake Street is scheduled to be paved and Antrim County Road Commission will announce when after bids are obtained and finalized.
Old Business: None
New Business: Teague recommended hiring lawn service for cutting and trimming the cemetery. Rice made the motion for Teague to obtain bids for lawn maintenance at the cemetery to not exceed $350.00 per cut with support by Robbins and motion carried. Teague to obtain bids for redoing the driveway near the recycle bins and the rear of the Community Center. Peterson presented board with an opportunity to improve and update the townships web page. Discussion followed and tabled until next meeting.

Motion to pay bills: Teague made the motion to pay the bills with support by Robbins and motion carried.
