Draft Helena Township ZOOM Board Meeting January 14th, 2021
Meeting called to order at 7:04 PM. Members present were Butch Peeples, David Peterson, Cathy Rice, Bonnie Robbins. Butch Bartz was absent. Motion by Rice to approve the agenda and supported by Robbins and approved. Motion by Rice to approve the minutes and supported by Robbins and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance December 1st, 2020 is $411,417.72
Total receipts: $144,089.36 and total disbursements: $61,065.36
Ending balance as of 12/31/2020 is $494,441.72
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Robbins and supported by Peeples and approved. Presentation of Bills: December 1-31: $50,405.92, January 1-14; $5,745.70

Planning Commission: No meeting in January.

Roads:
Old Business: Peterson reviewed proposal from Durkie for stand-alone HEPA filter units for the community center. Peterson made the motion to purchase 8 units not to exceed $20,000.00 and supported by Rice and motion carried.
New Business: Peterson read resolution 011421A accepting the donation back to Helena Township of cemetery lots 573, 574, 637 and 638 from Michele MacMaster to be gifted to families who cannot afford a cemetery lot. Rice made the motion to adopt Resolution 11421A with support by Robbins. Roll call vote: Peeples – yes, Peterson – yes, Rice – yes, Robbins – yes and Bartz absent. Peeples declared the resolution duly adopted.
Peterson read the Township Ambulance Authority Millage Election resolution to approve matters to be voted upon and the ballot language resolution 011421B. Robbins made the motion to adopt the resolution with support by Rice. Roll call vote: Robbins -yes, Peeples – yes, Peterson – yes, and Rice- yes. Bartz absent. Peeples declared the resolution duly adopted. Special election to be held May 4th, 2021.
Peterson read resolution 011421C to allow local residents to protest in writing, email, or phone and for non-residents to do the same; to file said protest at the Board of Review. Peterson made the motion to adopt the resolution with support by Robbins. Roll call vote: Robbins – yes, Peeples – yes, Peterson – yes, and Rice – yes and Bartz absent. Peeples declared the resolution duly adopted.

Announcements: None
Additional Public Comment: Ruth Smith commented that some pickleball players would volunteer to help for COVID vaccinations to be done at the Helena Township community center in the future. Pickleball to start up Monday, January 18th at the Helena Township community center. Parks and Rec to meet in February.
Robbins made the motion to pay the bills and supported by Peeples and approved.
