Draft Helena Township Board Meeting July 08, 2021
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Butch Peeples, David Peterson, Cathy Rice, Bonnie Robbins and Butch Bartz. Motion by Robbins to approve the agenda and supported by Bartz and approved. Motion by Bartz to approve the June’s meeting minutes and supported by Robbins and approved.

Public Comment: None
Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance June 1st, 2021 is $601,418.34
Total receipts: $53,658.00 and total disbursements: $42,473.13
No bank balance, no available bank statements
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Robbins and supported by Bartz and approved. Presentation of Bills: June 1-31: $33,009.06, July 1-8th; $2,114.28
Fire Chief/Sheriff Report: Paul Fabiano gave report for STLFD
Speakers: None
Communications: MTA grant to cover costs associated with COVID
Zoning: Logee’s report reviewed.
Planning Commission: No meeting
Parks & Rec: Reviewed Helena Corp. Volunteer Group created for helping maintaining township parks and a hold harmless clause to be signed for a year. Robbins made the motion to approve the hold harmless clause and supported by Bartz and motion carried.
Roads: Repairs to Green Street and E. Torch Lake Drive completed.
Old Business: By consensus, the board approves reopening the community center for public use and not requiring face masks.
Pickleball fees increased to $8.00 per hour.
Robbins made the motion to purchase new signs for Alden Safe Harbor, road end public accesses and Depot Park not to exceed $2000.00 and seconded by Bartz and motion carried.
New Business: Robbins made the motion for $100.00 fees and $100.00 refundable deposits for public events at the ball park, Depot Park, and Tennis Court Park and supported by Bartz and motion carried.
Rice made the motion to approve ordinance 07082021 language for mobile food vendors on township properties and seconded by Robbins and motion carried.
Announcements: None
Additional Public Comment: Billy Wedemeyer requested the board’s help in filing a formal complaint against David Peterson; Helena Township Clerk, for the mistreatment he and his wife received during the November, 2020 election.
Jim Gurr commented.
Robbins made the motion to pay the bills and supported by Bartz and approved.
