Minutes of Helena Township Planning Commission July 13, 2021

Meeting called to order by Gurr at 7:00 P.M.

Opened with Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Present: Jim Gurr, Laura Westerman, Sue Moglovkin, Bonnie Robbins, Mike Robinson, Absent: Joe Bassil, Gordy Schafer.  Township officials present: Butch Peeples

Approval of Agenda: Motion: Moglovkin, 2nd Westerman. Carried

Statement of Conflict of Interest: None

Approval of Minutes: As submitted. Motion: Moglovkin, 2nd Robinson. Carried

Public Comment: 2 in attendance.

Discussion of neighbor renting accessory dwelling as a long-term rental and problems caused by this. Is this considered a second residence in R1 which is not allowed? After lengthy discussion it was determined the zoning administrator should contact the township lawyer and discuss current language and determine if there is conflicting language about accessory structure use as a secondary residence and rental of such structures.
