Helena Township Board Meeting
04/14/2016
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Rick Teague. Present: Catherine Rice, Rick Teague, Bonnie Robbins, David Peterson and Butch Bartz. Motion to approve agenda by Robbins supported by Bartz.
Conflict of Interest: None.
Public Comment: Sheriff Dan Bean gave report and informed board of the new “SMART 911.com” program. It is a free service for aiding all citizens and those with special needs/medical history.
Approval of Minutes: Motion by Robbins, supported by Teague and motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance: $546,161.06
Receipts: $8,792.07
Disbursed: $33,139.09
Balance: $521,814.04
Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Teague, supported by Robbins and motion carried.
Presentation of Bills: March 1-31: $20,355.75; and April; 1-14th; $3,788.99

Communications:
Zoning: March report given by Guy Molby.
Planning Commission: Robbins reported that there was no quorum for their meeting and no business conducted. A resolution to permit action from Blue Water Bistro had been submitted to the planning commission and will be on the May agenda for the Planning Commission. A copy of the resolution will be sent to township lawyer for an opinion.
Ambulance Authority: No report.
Parks & Rec: Ruth Smith presented the board with a list of responsibilities the township has for completing the DNR grant for the resurfacing of the tennis courts.
Roads: Bartz reported that the new fence across the bridge over Spencer Creek is ready to be installed. Concrete work to be done by the County Road Commission before install.
Old Business: None
New Business: Peterson presented board with American Waste’s proposal for spring cleanup at the depot for Saturday, June 11th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM noon. Rice made the motion to accept American Waste’s proposal with support by Robbins and the motion carried.
Peterson presented the board with Trees North LLC’s proposal for the lawn and landscape maintenance at the Helena Township’s Cemetery. Teague made the motion to accept Trees North LLC’s proposal with support by Bartz and the motion carried.
Peterson presented the board with Arndt Electric’s proposal for providing electricity to the new heat tapes through the newly installed scuppers on the roofs of the community center. Teague made the motion to accept Arndt’s proposal for $1425.00 with support by Robbins and the motion carried.
