Draft Helena Township Board Meeting September 10th, 2020
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Rick Teague, David Peterson, Bonnie Robbins, Cathy Rice and Butch Bartz. Motion by Bartz to approve the agenda and supported by Robbins and approved. Motion by Robbins to approve the minutes and supported by Bartz and approved.

Public Comment: None
Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance August1st, 2020 is $552,571.92
Total receipts: $16,880.88 and total disbursements: $34,762.16
Ending balance as of 07/31/2020 is $552,571.92
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Teague and supported by Robbins and approved. Presentation of Bills: August 1-31: $25,551.78 and September 1-10th: $9,003.72
Speakers: Sheriff Dan Bean reviewed August report and a proposed ordinance for consumer fireworks for each township in Antrim County. Proposed ordinance to be reviewed by the Planning Commission.
Communications: None
Zoning: Reviewed zoning report for August, 2020.
Planning Commission: Robbins reported PC finishing up bullet points. Change meeting time to first Thursday in September. Public hearing scheduled for October 8th at 3:00 PM.
Ambulance Authority: No update.
Parks: Ruth Smith reviewed P&R meeting minutes. Robbins to contact Bzdok, twp. lawyer, about an ordinance/policy prohibiting commercial activities at the Alden safe harbor. There is a Rotary mini grant up to $1000.00 for toddler toy equipment that the Alden Racquet Sports committee want to apply for. Rice made the motion to approve the ARSC to apply for a Rotary mini grant for toddler toy equipment for the tennis court park with support by Robbins and motion carried.
Discussion of opening up the community center for pickleball. Bonnie Robbins and Butch Bartz will meet to discuss times available with Ruth Smith and Steve Dell.
Roads: Bartz waiting for estimates for work on southern part of McPherson road and Alden Meadows from Antrim Road Commission.
Old Business: None
New Business: Peterson presented estimates for fencing from the fence company of Northern Michigan in Boyne City at the community center, Depot park, Ball Park, and the cemetery. Discussion followed and by consensus it was decided not to do any fencing at the cemetery but remove the old split rail fence in the front. Peterson made the motion to accept the estimates for the fencing not to exceed 18,540.76 for the community center, Depot Park and the Ball Park with support by Robbins and the motion carried.
