Helena Township Board Meeting
November 13th, 2014
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance by Supervisor Rick Teague. Present: Catherine Rice, David Peterson, Butch Bartz and Bonnie Robbins. Motion to approve agenda by Robbins with support by Bartz and motion carried.
Conflict of Interest: None
Public Comment: Sheriff Dan Bean gave the sheriffs report for October.
Approval of minutes: Motion by Rice to approve the Septembers meetings minutes with support by Bartz and the motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Township: Beginning balance as of October 1st, 2014 $428,415.43
Receipts $15,877.23
Disbursements $21,956.85
Bank balance 10/31/14 $422,335.81
Motion to approve the Treasurers report by Teague with support by Robbins and motion carried.
Presentation of bills: October 1-31, 2014 – $12,551.36 and November 1-13, 2014 $20,440.31.
Speakers: None
Communications: Ken Masck informed the board that a DNR Oil & Gas Trust Fund Application was going to be filled out by the Parks and Recreation Committee for the possible acquisition of two parcels adjacent to Coy Mtn. for enlarging the parking lot. The in 25% in kind match for the township may be approximately $11,000.00.
Committee Reports:
Zoning – Zoning Administrator Molby gave report for Octoberr.
Planning Commission Robbins reported that the subcommittee met for reviewing the completion of the Walker Shores site plan and a public hearing is scheduled for December 3rd at 7:00 PM during the Planning Commission meeting. No additional work was done on the master plan review. No action taken on the zoning enforcement language. Someone informed committee their concern over unsecured access to a local closed gravel pit.
Ambulance Authority No updates.
Parks and Recreation Committee No updates.
Roads: No updates.
Old Business: None
New Business: Teague reported that the lease with the Alden District library was renewed for three years and the CPI adjustment was made.
Teague reviewed the snow plowing bid from Ken Barber for the 2014-2015 season. Rice made the motion to accept the bid with support by Bartz and the motion carried.
Announcements: Rice informed board that she had written and sent out thank you letters to DABA, Juniper Club, and the Alden Volunteers.
Additional Public comment
Motion to pay bills: Rice made the motion to pay the bills with support by Robbins and motion carried.
Meeting was adjourned by call of the Chair at 8:00 PM.
